Anne Böddeker German, b. 1966
"In a world that fell silent, I chose to celebrate life."
Anne Böddeker (b. 1966) has been living in Hamburg for more than twenty years and works as an artist and costume designer.
She started the Still Life series when COVID-19 emerged, plunging the world into silence and loneliness. At that moment, Anne decided to celebrate life by preparing beautiful meals and enjoying wine, cake, and seafood in her own company.
While eating and drinking, she took snapshots of her creations. The next morning, she sorted through the photographs and began painting. The results range between worn panels to opulent Baroque-style dinners. They represent a moment, a mood, a memory…
You might ask yourself whether the paintings represent joy, decadence, or even gluttony.
