About
The elements of everything.

Diana Bongers (1979, Helmond, The Netherlands) has studied visual arts and graphic design at the Royal Academy for Art and Design in ‘s-Hertogebosch and did her internship at Studio 124 Design in Amsterdam.

After her graduation Diana started working as a freelance surface designer, specializing in abstract, geometric and texture designs. Her manually crafted designs are sold through Dutch and foreign studio’s at leading international fairs and are brought on the consumer market by household names in the home decor industry (among others Arte, Marburg, Rasch and Graham & Brown).

After having lived in Amsterdam and Utrecht Diana returned to her birthtown in 2012. There she increasingly focuses on abstract art, influenced by the green oasis of the rural outskirts of Helmond, amidst she lived. Her concept of paper relief art is born.

Nature, with its vast array of forms and colours and its repetitiveness and imperfections, has always been Diana’s prime source of inspriration, even as a surface designer. Her extensive experience with texture designs shines through in her art, which is not only visible but also tangible.

Diana’s artwork consists out of hand painted and manualy reworked and folded paper on canvas, giving it its organic appearance and providing for an interesting interplay of light and shadow, from each angle giving way to different colours.
