Floor in 't Veld (1984) went to an art school in Amsterdam and since 2020 she has been working in her studio in Huizen.
At first glance, the paintings in her studio appear to be 'ordinary' abstract paintings in various colours and sizes. But on closer inspection, they reveal a layers which give depth to her works. Floor paints layer upon layer, a process that arouses curiosity about what else lies hidden beneath the surface. Not everything is what it seems.
A small, narrow black thing next to the painting catches the eye - a remote control? Indeed, this is no ordinary painting; it aspires to be more. Floor creates light work paintings illuminated from within by dimmable built-in LED lighting. This allows for an interactive experience where spectators can transform the atmosphere of the artwork and the space around it.
The light reveals complexity, colours, and patterns, more layers become visible.
The interactive elements in her light works reflect her fascination with transformation and her quest for wonder. Adaptable to the room, the time of the day, and the state of mind of the viewer - the light works can shine brightly or glow softly.
